ETF germination patchy lawn, should I over-seed or wait?

Germination super quick, but very patchy still on day 11.

I know that ETF can take up to 21 days, so I would like some opinions as to if I wait to add seed into the large patches, or if I apply a little more patience. Many thanks! BTW – flags are for birds but have been roughed up by all our wind! Last thing – leaves? When they drop on my seed prep area, I try and leaf-blow them off because I worry that the surface area that the leaves are covering, will block the seed from receiving enough light to germinate – right or wrong?

Just need to be patient. The difference between frost cloth and no frost cloth is night and day when it comes to fescue, especially on the tail end of those 15°C soil temps.

Can you see any shoots in the bare areas? Go out at night with a light and you’ll spot them straight away.

It could just be that the topdressing is a bit thicker in those areas. It could also be that the bare patches are slightly higher spots, while the areas with growth have held a bit more moisture. Could also just be better seed-to-soil contact in those areas. Loads of possibilities, just keep going and trust the process.

A few leaves here and there won’t stop seed germinating. The seed will still sprout fine as long as it’s got moisture and decent seed to soil contact. You risk blowing seeds in to garden beds blowing them off.

This fella used frost cloth, this is day 16…

@stef b frost cloth? Any of the big box stores have it. Super cheap too about $15 a roll.

Awesome! I’ll look into it tomorrow- or maybe after our weather event!
