Perennial ryegrass not germinating after 7 days, what should I do?

After scarified . It’s almost 7 days and I don’t see much progress here ; Perhaps I need to wait another 7 days to see the NZLA Perennial Rye Grass seed to germinate? Do I need to apply a foliar mix of Liquid Starter, Restore, and Root Health again or wait till day 14 ? Thanks guys !

What are the soil temps? My MDR started to germinate around the 5 day mark. Is there a top dress applied to the seed?

I’d be looking at your watering regime first. Perennial ryegrass should have germinated by now. I can’t see any irrigation set up, and the concrete looks completely dry, so are you actually watering? At the moment it looks like you’re not. You should be watering three to four times a day for a couple of minutes to keep the soil moist. You can’t just chuck seed down and expect it to grow. Don't apply and liquids at this stage, give the new seed a chance.

@KJ actually the irrigation is set up for 3 times per day , 3 minutes ; I didn’t irrigate today as I the spoil is wet to saturated !

@KJ irrigations timming 6 am, 11 am and 3 pm at this stage ?

@David Galeano If it's saturated might need to reduce it to 1 minute 4 times a day. You also don't want the seed to stay soaked as it can rot. The joys! It's been cold too, probably just need to be patient.

Hey mate, I wouldn’t be putting any foliar liquids down at this stage. If you’ve got any germination happening that you just can’t see yet, spraying nitrogen over the top can damage those young shoots pretty quickly.

If you want to use liquids at seeding, the safer approach is a soil drench, apply it and water it in the day of seeding. Most people stick with granular at that stage, but liquids can work if they’re going into the soil rather than sitting on the leaf.

From here, you’re best to wait about two weeks after germination before applying any foliar products.

I’d also take on board what the others have said around irrigation. You should be seeing at least some germination by now, even if it’s patchy, so it’s worth having a closer look at your watering and trying to work out what might be holding it back.

@David Galeano don't just stop watering, reduce it if it's saturated. Don't water for as long. Read that link I shared there is loads of information in it, especially the wet towel trick.
