Disease or Grubs ?

These are randomly appearing in spots of my lawn . I had some lawn rust and stress previously due to blunt mower blades and weather conditions, but that’s mostly been resolved. I’ve dug up in a few spots to check for grubs and also used a warm water and dishwashing liquid technique, but couldn’t see any. The “dug up” roots have now appeared in areas of the lawn that had no rust at all . Bit stumped. Could
It be birds? The lawn is now a 3-4 months old Appreciate any help or advice

Concrete and soil don’t go well together.

@Lance McClure there’s no concrete only a few rocks. It’s happening in places where it’s pure soil

@Ron Nair is that not up the side of a house?

Yeah, the damage is likely from birds foraging for worms or grubs. A young, 3-4 month old lawn is the perfect target. Its root system is still shallow and fragile so clumps of turf are pulled up easily.
From the photos it doesn't look like there's any disease or direct turf damage consistent with grubs. Grubs have usually done their maximum root damage through autumn and have now burrowed deep down where the soil temperature is more stable. They could be as deep as 30cm and depending on how much soapy water you put down or how deep you dug, they might've escaped the attempt to seek them out.
