Yates sprayer, TeeJet nozzle compatibility and adaptor options
Please could I enquire about the brands of spray units that allow me to change the nozzle end? I have a 04 TeeJet red nozzle end, but I cannot attach it to the end of my basic Yates spray wand.
Thank-you
I use a Stihl sprayer, and by default you can’t run standard TeeJet nozzles on it, I had to buy an adapter to make that work.
I’m not overly familiar with the Yates sprayers, but the Solo units come with a similar style nozzle to TeeJets. It’s not a branded TeeJet, but it’s the same sizing, so you can swap it out for better nozzles quite easily.
With my Stihl sprayer I needed an adapter, which I’ll link below so you can see what I mean. It may not suit your setup though, so I wouldn’t go buying one blindly. It could be worth reaching out to Yates to see if they offer something similar or taking the sprayer wand to Stihl and trying your luck to see if this adaptor works.
If budget allows, the Stihl sprayers are hard to beat. The Stihl SGA 85 in particular is a very solid bit of kit. It’s not cheap, but the build quality is on another level.
Solo used to be a good option, but since shifting manufacturing to China the quality has dropped off a bit in recent years. That said for the money you get what you pay for.
If you do get an answer from Yates on adapters, post it back here. It’ll help the next person trying to figure this out.
This is the adaptor for Stihl sprayers:

You should be able to replace the wand on that sprayer for one that takes an adaptor for t-jets. It will mean replacing the shaft but cheaper than buying a whole new sprayer.
Have a look at this, the handle on the Yates one looks exactly the same as the Solo one. I think this will work for you, if it does it’s an easy nozzle swap.

@Terry O’Neil hi there. I tried one at a spray specialist shop, but it was too big and wouldn’t fit, however I’ll go to Farmlands and Bunnings today to further investigate. Thank-you.
Yes that is exactly what I need. Unfortunately my local Farm Source store has no stock, however I will take my little Yates sprayer into Farmlands and Bunnings today and see if I can find one like this that will fit. My mitre 10 wouldn’t open the box so I could check unfortunately, and I couldn’t guarantee from the info on the packaging. Thank-you.
Have a solution to share- Farmlands Solo Universal Wand and Trigger Kit. See photo. We have to unscrew the trigger from the end of the hose and re-attach the new trigger and wand. However, we also needed to purchase two additional seperate attachments Hansen so everything would screw on and seal. See photos and reciept. Hope this helps someone else to find the most cost effective solution to a previously purchased Yates garden sprayer.
Sorry - other solution photos…
And last one showing the end with my 04 TeeJet red fan nozzle
