Liquid wetter vs granular wetter: Which is best for your lawn?

I’m looking to apply a wetting agent throughout the hotter months and I’m trying to decide between liquid Wetter and granular Wetter GR.

What are the pros and cons of liquid vs granular wetting agents? Do they essentially do the same job, or are there situations where one is better than the other?

For me, liquid is the better option all day long. The technology in the liquid formulation is simply far superior (especially if you use NZLA 3W) and from my own experience, I’ve always had better results with it.

That said, liquid isn’t going to suit everyone. It needs to be watered in straight after application, so if you don’t have irrigation or can’t easily water certain areas of the lawn, granular can be a much more practical option. Granular also makes it easier to target specific areas rather than treating the entire lawn.

Essentially, the granular product uses a carrier that is coated with the liquid formulation. Once applied, rainfall or irrigation washes the product off the granule and carries it into the soil profile.

So while I personally prefer liquid and believe it performs better, granular definitely has its place, particularly where irrigation or ease of application is a consideration.
