Do you need to use a wetting agent with Grub+?

I need to treat my lawn for grubs using Grub+. do we add wetter to the tank as well? (I have the slikka super wetter and penetrant). Is it best to treat 100m2 at a time with the grub+? Or can you do 200m2 in one hit?

You don’t need to add a wetter when applying Grub+. It’s designed to be watered in, so the priority is getting it into the soil profile rather than improving leaf coverage. Adding something like Slikka won’t hurt, but it’s not doing anything meaningful for grub control.

The “wetter” you’re referring to is more of a sticker/penetrant for foliar products, helping herbicides move into the plant. The naming (super wetter/penetrant) is a bit misleading, it’s not the same as a true soil wetting agent. That is why we name the NZLA version of this NZLA Sticker.

A wetting agent is used to fix hydrophobic soil and help water move evenly through the profile. If you do have hydrophobic soil, apply something like Wetter 3W a few days to a week beforehand and water it in so the soil is accepting moisture properly. That way, when you apply Grub+, it can move evenly through the soil profile. I wouldn’t tank mix them, the irrigation requirements are completely different.

There’s no issue doing 200m² in one go, as long as your sprayer is calibrated so the correct amount of product is applied over that area (15ml per 100m²) and the tank runs empty at the end so you know all that product in the tank has been applied.
