Worms causing uneven lawn surface
Hi all,
I’m looking for some advice as winter is coming to an end.
The rear lawn has become very uneven, which I believe may be caused by worms and beetles creating small soil mounds across the surface. On some days, I can also see birds pulling worms from the lawn.
I applied Tea Saponin twice in May, followed by NZLA Grub+ in June. Based on the product information, I expected these treatments to prevent the formation of small soil mounds but unfortunately they have increased.
The lawn will be approximately one year old in September.
Could you please advise:
• What may have caused this problem despite the treatments already applied?
• How can I remove the existing soil mounds and level the lawn before summer begins?
• Should I apply any further treatment, and if so, which product would be most suitable?
• What can I do to prevent this from recurring each year?

Will be worm castings, need repeat applications of Tea Sap, it’s not a one time or two time fix. Worms naturally move up and down the soil profile and Tea Sap can only go so deep with a single application, it also doesn’t have residue effects. Apply monthly during worm pressure to get the ones near the surface. Also lawns will naturally be bumpy after winter. I have to level every spring if I want to use a reel mower.

Is my only fix for bumpy lawn is to re-scarifying it as this is the only fix I know
@Paul Reilly grab a lawn levelling rake and then introduce sand and spread it over the lawn to level it out. You only need a very thin layer. You could scarify before, most people do that.
