Why should moss be damp before applying NZLA Moss?
For best results, NZLA Moss should be applied when the moss is moist or has been well watered beforehand.
NZLA Moss works through direct contact, so thorough and even coverage is important. Moistening the moss first helps the spray wet and contact the moss effectively rather than being applied to a completely dry surface.
It’s a similar principle to why I recommend starting Wetter applications early in the season. Making use of the moisture already held in the soil profile helps the Wetter distribute more evenly through the soil, rather than trying to apply it once the soil has already become very dry.
This is why the product label on NZLA Moss recommends ensuring the target area is well watered before application.
Avoid applying during rain or when rain is expected soon after treatment, as the product needs sufficient contact time without being washed away.
Oh makes sense, seen this coming up a few times now.
