How can I help my lawn recover from a HOC reset?

Why have you lowered the HOC here? Three weeks ago in your journal it was looking great. Heading into autumn, ryegrass needs as much leaf area as possible to keep photosynthesising and building root reserves for winter. Cutting low now works against that. Most people this time of year are doing the opposite, winding the reel mowing up and leaving a bit more length going into the cooler months. For recovery, foliar products will give you a faster response than granular in these conditions. NZLA Charger works well in cooler weather and stress recovery. It looks very stressed now also have a look at their Amino+ product.

@Joel Calnan I just noticed you applied PGR 10 days go too, so any recovery is going to be slow. Longevity of PGR is linked to temps and she has been cold the last few days so it’s not wearing off in a hurry. I would still try some Charger.

Meso will selectively remove creeping bent from ryegrass with two applications 14 days apart. Add a sticker to improve uptake.Avoid applying it off the back of a PGR though. Suppressed growth means bleached tissue sits around longer before it recovers. Spring is probably a better time to be doing that so bleaching grows out quickly.

Charger and Liquid Starter will get it moving.

NZLA Charger contains growth promoters along with NPK, so it helps push new growth and kick things back into gear. The actual product was designed for bringing warm-season turf out of winter dormancy. I never expected it to be a top seller when bringing it in to NZ as I didn't think there would be much of a market for it. Now it's a top seller because it performs excellent on cool-season turf too.

Liquid Starter is also ideal for recovery.
