Topdressing mix recommendations? (Auckland)
Aerating + topdressing this October, clayheavy patches. Central Landscapes options are either not weed-free (Waikato Topsoil, Lawn Mix 50/50) or weed-free but contain bark (Premium Lawn Soil — had a bad experience with visible bark before). None seem built for topdressing an established lawn, more for new lawn construction. Is DIY coarse washed sand + plain loam the better call, any suggestions ?
After some research and discussion with others will be going with Sand
@Nate Dogg this is what I ended up buying, I didn’t get enough lawn soil though so will be buying more of that. I hope it doesn’t have too much bark in it

@Nate Dogg I think that was the plan mate but work has consumed me right now so I forgot what the plan was 🤣
@Nick M and @Nate So would you do the 70% sand and 30% lawn soil mix? Which is the best soil mix to use in this situation do you think?
@Nick M I see you have bought the Daltons Lawn Soil and some sand. Could you tell me what type of sand it is?
@Nick M Is that a Sand 600 or 2000 ? I'm just going to do lawn mix 50/50
@Nate Dogg and @Tina S I will be also doing a 50/50 I had plans of getting more lawnsoil soon the sand I think is 600, surprisingly the bag doesn’t mention what sand it is except that it is from central landscape(I got it back in March).
