Sprayer calibration and water volumes
I have recently calibrated my new Solo 414li with both the red fan tip and white fan tip. If I’m not mistaken most nzla liquid products need to be in at least 5 litres of water per 100 square meters? But surprisingly to use 5 litres of water i have to walk quite slow, much slower than I have seen the pros on here walking while spraying (in their videos/reels).
I put 10 litres of water in my sprayer and walked slowly while spraying 100 squares, the sprayer is battery powered so the spray is a consistent presure. I did this 4 times with each nozzle and looked at the average usage, the red tip was 5.5 litres and the white tip was 7 litres.
If I walked at a normal pace I would have used significantly less water but it would have put me below the 5 litre minimum per 100 squares for the liquid products.
Products don't need a minimum of 5L of water, it is whatever your sprayer is calibrated to. There was a guide shared yesterday about calibration tips.
@Jeremy Row some products do have minimum water volumes though, this prevents burn. Otherwise yep it’s what your sprayer is calibrated to.
@Jeremy Row Most of the NZLA liquid products I have require a minimum of 4 liters of water per 10 square meters, Charger, Iron and Liquid N are examples.
What I am getting at with this post is that if I walked at a normal pace I wouldn't apply anywhere near 4 liters over 100 squares. I was curious if other people have to walk really slow to get that amount of water down also.
@David van Schreven Wouldn’t you just double spray in cross hatch pattern. If the mix is for 100m2 then the entire contents needs to be put down for the product to work effectively?
