How do I control weeds in my new ryegrass lawn?
The grass seedlings are up after one week which is excellent it I have noticed some weeds appearing also. At what stage can I spray the weeds and with what product and when can I start looking after the lawn as per NZLA calendar.
Thanks in advance all.
Just looking through your journal, I can see you sowed ryegrass, did you use Meso and Etho at the time of seeding? The benefit with ryegrass is both can be used as a pre-emergent at seeding.
At this point you’ll need to wait until the new grass has been mowed 2–3 times before applying as a post-emergent. If applied too early, Meso can damage or kill the seedlings.
Just keep in mind it’s not ideal, as post-emergent applications can cause some bleaching. It will still be effective though, especially with the weeds being very young.

Hi Jonny
I see I don’t have Meso or Etho in stock at my place if I place the order tonight how long till it’s despatched to me as it might be worth me delaying seeding the front lawn this weekend.
Please advise which is best!
