New lawn, getting started with lawn care basics
New to the full lawn care stuff other than just mowing it.
Figured since I’m turning 40 this year i might as well try have a lawn i can be proud of.
No idea where to start other than the major improvement my yuka mini has made mowing
Hey mate, it depends how far you want to go.
You could start fresh and follow the NZLA renovation guide. That will give you the best result, but it is a fair bit of effort and money.
Otherwise the lawn looks like it needs a really good feed. I would lean towards giving the NZLA Weed and Feed bundle a go. The bundle contains a professional herbicide and top quality slow-release granular fertiliser. You’ll likely be more than satisfied with the results from them alone.
Here is a link to the renovation guide if you want to go all in, and also a link to the bundle I mentioned.

Suggested bundle, this is a great starting point: https://www.newzealandlawnaddicts.com/products/weed-feed-10kg-lawn-fertiliser-and-weed-control/
Also give this a read as it contains some pretty important basics around irrigation and mowing for best results: https://www.newzealandlawnaddicts.com/lawn-tips/lawn-care-101-getting-the-basics-right/
Just to add to Jonny’s advice, I’ve done exactly as he’s described and beside some fungus issues my lawn is looking 10x what is used to 👍
