NZLA Next Level Lawn Kit
This programme is designed for cool-season lawns only. It is not suitable for warm-season lawns due to the herbicide component.
To apply these products, you will need a hand-held fertiliser spreader and a knapsack sprayer.
Before You Start
It’s essential to understanding lawn care basics, these are covered in this guide, please read this guide before starting your journey.
How to Use the Products in the Bundle
Week 1 – Part 1
In Week 1, we’ll be applying wetter, fertiliser, and grub all at once. These can be applied together, and we’ll aim to get it done efficiently.
First, be sure the grass is dry, no applying to wet foliage. Use a handheld spreader (not by hand) to ensure even coverage. You can grab one for about $30–$40. Spread the granular fertiliser at 2 kg per 100 m².
Right after that, use a knapsack or pressurised sprayer. In the same tank, mix 200 mL of wetter and 15 mL of Grub+ per 100 m². Spray that over the whole area. Once you’ve finished, water all the products in together. If you’re unsure on how to water properly we have a good guide here.
Week 1 – Part 2
Three days after the initial granular application, we apply the herbicide.
The reason for the gap is simple. We want the lawn and the weeds actively growing. When plants are growing, they absorb foliar herbicides more effectively. That is why we start with granular fertiliser, stimulate growth, then return a few days later with the spray.
This herbicide is powerful. After application, clippings must not be composted for six months. They should go in your red bin.
If you are mowing frequently with a reel mower, you can leave the clippings on the lawn. If you are mowing less often and removing larger volumes, collect them and dispose of them in the red bin. On larger sections, you can leave them in a separate area of your property to break down, just not in compost intended for garden reuse.
Application rate is 40-60 millilitres per 100 square metres. Mix 40-60 millilitres in 5 litres of water per 100 square metres.
If your lawn size differs, adjust accordingly. Measure carefully. Do not exceed the rate. This product is strong, and overapplication can cause damage. It is better to be slightly under than over. A typical total mix range for many residential lawns will fall between 40 and 60 millilitres per 100².
Mix in a knapsack sprayer and apply evenly across the lawn. This is a foliar herbicide, so it needs to remain on the leaf surface to be absorbed. Avoid watering it in after application.
Week 2
In Week 2, the application rates are based on 100 m², so you may need to calculate for your lawn size. For every 100 m², you’ll add 200 mL of Charger and 200 mL of Liquid Boost into 5 liters of water.
Using a pressurized or knapsack sprayer, apply the mixture evenly across the lawn. This is a foliar liquid, so there’s no need to water it in afterward—it’s absorbed through the foliage.
Week 3
In Week 2, the application rates are based on 100 m², so you may need to calculate for your lawn size. For every 100 m², you’ll add 200 mL of Nurture and 200 mL of Restore into 5 liters of water.
Using a pressurized or knapsack sprayer, apply the mixture evenly across the lawn. This is a foliar liquid, so there’s no need to water it in afterward—it’s absorbed through the foliage.
Week 4
Repeat Week 2 application.
Week 5
Repeat Week 3 application.
Week 6
