You can upload a maximum of 3 photos. This is to allow entrants who have more than one lawn type – for example, a perennial ryegrass front and fine fescue back – to enter both areas fairly.

No, you just submit your photos along with details like the size of your lawn and the grass type. The NZLA team will allocate your entry to the most suitable category for the winning lawns.

The awards are open to all New Zealand residents with a home or lifestyle property lawn.

No – entry is completely free.

Once entries close, all photos will appear on the public voting page. Each person can cast a maximum of three likes across all photos for their favourite lawns. The main category, New Zealand Lawn of the Year, will be selected by New Zealand Lawn Addicts in conjunction with the voting results and a panel of judges. The remaining categories will be determined solely by the public votes, with New Zealand Lawn Addicts allocating each winning lawn to the most suitable category based on the information provided in the entry.

No, entries must only be submitted by the person responsible for the lawn.

No. The awards are open to everyone, though many entrants use NZLA products to maintain their lawns.

Any entry that appears to be in the running for a category win will go through a quick verification step. We can see voting trends and engagement in the back end, so if your lawn is looking like a potential winner, you’ll be asked to jump on a short video call with Jonny. This is simply to confirm that the lawn is genuinely yours and that the photo submitted was taken during the entry period. Lawns can change from day to day and we fully understand that, but it’s easy to confirm whether a photo still reflects the current condition of the lawn.
