As a modern e-commerce business, we occasionally encounter confusion about how this model works. Our focus is on supplying products efficiently through our online platforms rather than providing one-on-one phone support.
When our phone number was previously listed, we received a significant volume of calls each day, many relating to lawn advice, product application rates, or information already available on our website, product labels, Facebook group, and more recently, the NZLA App.
While we understand that picking up the phone can often feel like the quickest option, the volume of enquiries quickly became unmanageable. With a customer base of more than 20,000 people, providing individual phone support simply isn’t practical for a business of our size.
To put that into perspective, if just 0.1% of our customer base called on any given day, we would receive more than 20 phone calls daily. Most of those enquiries are already covered by the resources we’ve created, including product descriptions, application guides, articles, videos, the Facebook group, forum, and NZLA App. Those calls would be in addition to processing orders, managing inventory, coordinating freight, responding to customer service enquiries, and running the day-to-day operations of the business.
For that reason, we no longer publish a phone number. Instead, we’ve invested heavily in creating resources that allow customers to access information instantly, at any time, without needing to wait for a response. This enables us to continue providing competitive pricing, fast order dispatch, and a better overall experience for the wider NZLA community.
